My music blog is simply a mechanism for me to post up the stuff I listen to right now and to recommend you listen to it too! I have an eclectic musical taste and I'm passionate about it, so here's five things listed below that I rate.
Dimanche a Bamako
Amadou and Mariam
This is a fabulous album from Amadou and Mariam, a blind couple from Mali who sing the most joyful music I've heard in years. Try 'Djanfa' - my favourite off this album. I'm going to see them at The Big Chill this year. When to listen? Great for listening to on a Saturday morning while reading the paper, it sets you up for the day.get it...
At the Controls
James Holden
It's a sprawling futuristic soundscape of a record. When to listen? Listen to this if you're in a car, alone, on a long, long motorway journey.get it...
PIano Solo
Gonzales
I like this music because it's a simple and beautiful set of tunes played only on a piano. I'ts quite jolly in places and also melancholic too, which makes it quite a compelling listen. Try 'Overnight' and 'Bermuda Triangle'. When to listen? Recommend one plays it when one wants to clear one's head, especially when travelling on a bus. Gonsalez - Not to be confused with Jose Gonzalez. Very therapeutic. get it...
Paradolia
Alex Smoke
Top electronic music, you need to hear it. Try 'Never Want To See You Again' to get a feel for it. When to listen? Before going out on a big night out.get it...
Journeys by DJs
Justin Robertson
In May 1995, there was a free cassette on the cover of Select magazine. I played it to death and then lost the cassette. I did a search the other day and found that someone has gone to the trouble of turning it into a MP3. What a treat. The internet is sooo good. Thanks internet. Get the free MP3s. When to listen? I don't know...get it...
